We designed this seven-day itinerary around two of Zambia's most rewarding safari locations: the South Luangwa Valley and Victoria Falls. Rather than spreading time across multiple stops, we give you three nights in each place - enough to settle into the park's rhythms and cover the key experiences at the falls without rushing.
South Luangwa is where we begin. Our guests spend three nights at Mfuwe Lodge, inside the national park, with two game-viewing activities each day: a morning drive or walking safari and an afternoon drive that extends into a night game drive. The Luangwa Valley holds one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, and the combination of day and night outings gives a fuller picture of what lives here.
From there, a short domestic flight connects you to Livingstone. The three nights at David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa include a guided tour of the falls, a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, a helicopter flight over the gorge, and a visit to Mukuni Village. These are the experiences most visitors to the falls come for, and we've included them all.
Use the following itinerary for inspiration. Remember: all days, hotels and activities can be altered to suit your requirements. A Absolute Zambia Safaris travel specialist will be happy to advise.
You arrive into Lusaka and connect to a late-afternoon domestic flight to Mfuwe Airport, reaching the lodge after a 45-minute transfer through the park. The first evening is yours to settle in before dinner.
The following two days follow the rhythm of the Luangwa: an early breakfast, then a morning game drive or walking safari, returning to the lodge for brunch and time to rest through the midday heat. In the afternoon, you head out again for a combined evening and night game drive, tracking nocturnal species by spotlight before returning for a three-course dinner.
You fly out of Mfuwe in the morning - connecting through Lusaka to Livingstone - with a possible early game drive depending on your flight time. A short road transfer brings you to David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa on the Zambezi bank in time for lunch.
On your second day here, a guided tour of Victoria Falls takes around 90 minutes, covering the main viewpoints with context on the falls' geology and history. In the afternoon, you join a two-hour sunset cruise on the Zambezi: elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and birds are regularly seen from the water, and sundowner drinks and snacks are included.
The following morning, a helicopter flight gives you an aerial view of the falls and the Zambezi gorge. Afterwards, a visit to Mukuni Village, a Leya community near the falls, covers the culture and traditions of the people who have lived alongside the falls for generations. Your final morning is for departure, with breakfast and a road transfer to Livingstone International Airport.

Everything perfectly organized. We visited Malawi and Zambia. We were met at every arrival point, so that gave confidence. All transfers on time and well arranged with water and possibly packed lunches.
Comfortable transportation. Highly recommended!
My husband and I were on a 10-day trip to Zambia organized perfectly by Absolute Zambia Safaris.
We visited the lower Zambezi national park, South Luanga Park and Victoria Falls. The entire Iterinary along with flights and road transport whenever needed well planned as according to our requirement. Would recommend their guidance for anyone looking for a wonderful holiday in Zambia.
Fantastic planning and arranging of this trip by Robert of Absolute Zambia Safaris — everything was perfect from start to finish. We were picked up on time for all activities, the hotel was great — good food, nice pool, wifi, etc and good location, the white water rafting was great, Angel Pool was very much enjoyed by everyone and the sunset cruise was almost empty — so we had the entire upper deck of the boat to ourselves. The food on the boat was tremendous, and the sunset magnificent. Everyone said this was possibly the best holiday ever. We are very grateful to Absolute Zambia whose flawless organising of all of this made it happen.
Absolute Zambia Safaris organised a 2 week trip in Zambia for us — to South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi and Livingstone. We cannot thank them enough for their wonderful organisation, thoughtful communication and great value for money. This was our first visit to Africa and they made it a breeze, with excellent choices of accomodation, transport, and drivers etc. At all times we were well looked after and had absolutely no concerns regarding safety or anything else for that matter. Thanks so much Absolute Zambia, we will get back to you for our next holiday in Africa.
This itinerary would cost from $4,330 and $5,410 pp.
