Join us on a thrilling nine days Zambian safari to see some of the best wildlife and breathtaking African scenery the Luangwa Valley has to offer.
Spend four nights at Flatdogs Camp in South Luangwa National Park before another four nights at Luambe Camp in Luambe National Park.
Driving safari gets visitors deep into the remote corners of the park to see its animal inhabitants in their natural surroundings. Four of the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – are among the attractions. Hyena, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, numerous antelopes, and hippo can also be seen.
Night game drives offer the chance to catch sight of elusive nocturnal wildlife among the bushveld, such as civets, genets, hyenas, and leopards. Stunning bird species that only make an appearance at night include nightjars and an amazing variety of owls. Watching predators hunt is a visceral and haunting experience.
The Luangwa Valley is the birthplace of the African walking safari and offers possibly the most authentic bush experience in Africa. Walks are led by knowledgeable and passionate guides, escorted by an armed national park scout.
The local carmine bee-eater colony goes into overdrive from mid-July to mid-August, and it's quite a sight. Guests will be guided to the site at dawn, where they can observe the bird colony up-close, accompanied with coffee and biscuits.

You will spend four nights in Luambe National Park. This is a great opportunity to explore the amazing Luambe National Park and here is a list of things you can do during your stay:
Wake up to various birdcalls and the grunting hippo as they welcome a new day in the beautiful Luangwa Valley while enjoying a quick coffee with biscuits. Then, the early mornings are a great time for mammal monitoring drive with the Luambe guides or ZCP (when available). Other great morning activities include anti-poaching walks, coffee with the carmine bee-eaters or walking the camera trap circuit to check on the night’s activity.
The afternoon is your time to relax! Have a rest in your tent, or grab your binoculars and spot the birdlife from under the shade of a tree. Alternatively, spend time in the main area with our team learning more about the history of the project, looking at what was caught on the camera traps or updating the leopard family tree. A tasty lunch will be on offer at the camp before heading out for your late afternoon game drive.
The late afternoon is a great time to walk the Luangwa listening to the hippos before finishing with sundowners or heading to Chitingulu village to learn about life for the communities you live next to National Parks. Your evening will be spent relaxing in camp, with a sundowner in hand, watching the pink sunsets over the river while listening to the antics of the hippo followed by a delicious 3-course meal in the dining area. After dinner, it is a great opportunity to listen and record the bat activity in camp for those with an interest in the smaller, more unique creatures of Luambe!

My husband and I were on a 10-day trip to Zambia organized perfectly by Absolute Zambia Safaris.
We visited the lower Zambezi national park, South Luanga Park and Victoria Falls. The entire Iterinary along with flights and road transport whenever needed well planned as according to our requirement. Would recommend their guidance for anyone looking for a wonderful holiday in Zambia.
Fantastic planning and arranging of this trip by Robert of Absolute Zambia Safaris — everything was perfect from start to finish. We were picked up on time for all activities, the hotel was great — good food, nice pool, wifi, etc and good location, the white water rafting was great, Angel Pool was very much enjoyed by everyone and the sunset cruise was almost empty — so we had the entire upper deck of the boat to ourselves. The food on the boat was tremendous, and the sunset magnificent. Everyone said this was possibly the best holiday ever. We are very grateful to Absolute Zambia whose flawless organising of all of this made it happen.
Absolute Zambia Safaris organised a 2 week trip in Zambia for us — to South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi and Livingstone. We cannot thank them enough for their wonderful organisation, thoughtful communication and great value for money. This was our first visit to Africa and they made it a breeze, with excellent choices of accomodation, transport, and drivers etc. At all times we were well looked after and had absolutely no concerns regarding safety or anything else for that matter. Thanks so much Absolute Zambia, we will get back to you for our next holiday in Africa.
This itinerary would cost from $3,780 and $4,125 pp.
