Journey highlights

Key moments and experiences on this trip

Game drive
Kafue National Park

Game drive

Busanga Plain is the leading game-viewing site, recognized for its incredible wildlife density. The park includes hippo, elephant, wild dog, buffalo, wildebeest, lechwe, roan, cheetah, and spectacular birdlife, including the unique Chaplin's barbet. With dramatic scenery and few other guests, this portion of the park provides wonderful photographic opportunities.

Kafue National Park

Walking safari

Our walking safaris usually take place in the Lunga Luswishi. This leisurely walk allows tourists to truly immerse themselves in the bush. We stop for a cup of tea along the way and then either return to the lodge for brunch or have a surprise feast in the bush.

River boat cruise
Kafue National Park

River boat cruise

During the beginning of the season, the Kafue River boat ride is primarily focused on birdlife and botany. However, during September and October, we can begin to see stunning mammal sightings. Many animals flock to the cold water to escape the heat of the day, including wild cats and elephants.

Bush biking
Kafue National Park

Bush biking

We frequently visit a hot spring where the bush is open. This terrain contains a vast dambo surrounded by miombo woodland, which makes for wonderful cycling territory. This activity is a great way for guests to indulge in a little physical activity – a welcome change from the sometimes-sedentary safari!

Busanga Plains

Your trip continues, to the famous Busanga Plains passing through the Kafue National Park giving you more chances of spotting some animals on your way.

The Busanga Plains are considered to be the best places for wildlife viewing in Kafue National Park. During the rainy season, the flat land is largely flooded. From June the water starts to dry up, making it an ideal habitat for large herds of antelopes, buffalos, elephants and many other animal species.

You will lunch enroute under a miombo tree, before arriving at camp. It is about eight hours through the National Park, but guides will keep an eye on the game, birds and anything of interest to the clients.

Check in and you will either relax and enjoy the view of the Busanga plains or go out for a short game drive before enjoying Sundowners then heading back to camp.

Fantastic planning and arranging of this trip by Robert of Absolute Zambia Safaris — everything was perfect from start to finish. We were picked up on time for all activities, the hotel was great — good food, nice pool, wifi, etc and good location, the white water rafting was great, Angel Pool was very much enjoyed by everyone and the sunset cruise was almost empty — so we had the entire upper deck of the boat to ourselves. The food on the boat was tremendous, and the sunset magnificent. Everyone said this was possibly the best holiday ever. We are very grateful to Absolute Zambia whose flawless organising of all of this made it happen.

Absolute Zambia Safaris organised a 2 week trip in Zambia for us — to South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi and Livingstone. We cannot thank them enough for their wonderful organisation, thoughtful communication and great value for money. This was our first visit to Africa and they made it a breeze, with excellent choices of accomodation, transport, and drivers etc. At all times we were well looked after and had absolutely no concerns regarding safety or anything else for that matter. Thanks so much Absolute Zambia, we will get back to you for our next holiday in Africa.
